Clearly that’s a sarcastic clickbait. But humor me. The singer is of course the bride of the show. The spotlight is on the bride, but the bride also made all the important decisions. The guitarist (or the primary solo instrumentalist, in our case the violinist) is the groom. He’s there, he’s important, he gets the spotlight 20% of the time. The drummer - well obviously the drummer is all the parents combined. The drummer provides the foundation for the show. There are also so many ways the drummer can make it a nightmare for the singer and the guitarist by rushing, being too loud, and even trying to steal the show. Oh and I almost forgot about the bassist. Hmm… a somewhat likable cousin that made it into the bridal party just to keep the numbers even? I’m joking! Bassists, I love you.
But joking aside, there are some similar dynamics: music, dancing, finding more expressive moments on stage at the concert and during the vows and the first dance at the wedding; photographing the audience’ reaction to their favorite song vs guests’ reaction to the first kiss… Ok, who am I kidding, really, I just wanted an excuse to share photos that I really like from one of my best concert experiences, when I scored surprisingly affordable first row tickets and then snuck in an SLR into a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds concert.
